Costa Del Sol Piura owes us an apology.
As usual this time was excellent.
For 16 years we have travelled every year from Ecuador to Trujillo and Lima, Peru to visit my wife's family during Xmas holidays. We always stay at the Costa Del Sol in Piura the first night. We arrived December 19 and at the check-in they wanted to charge me the 18% tax. I told them I am from the Netherlands as they could see on my Passport and we are exempt from this tax. There was no way they were going to relent. A young lady and a Mr. Calderon. We argued and I even showed them the regulation but they did not listen. I had to pay the 18%! I had never been charged this before and during our 19 days in Peru no other hotel charged this tax to me. On our return January 07 the young lady at the check-in in Piura made it clear when we asked, that as an EU citizen I did NOT have to pay the 18%! Therefore, I am making an official complaint that as a Genius 3 client with Booking.com I will not accept what Costa Del Sol did to me December 19.

The breakfast was great. The location of the hotel was great. The room was great. There was a man standing down in front when you entered the hotel maybe in his fifties. He was very helpful
The lady at the front desk was not very helpful. I did not have reservations when I showed up. I asked if they had space and she started shaking her head and saying that they didn't have hardly any space at all but she had a one room that was available and when she said the price it was astronomical! I just stood there and stared at her because the price was so high. So I went into the waiting area and looked on my phone and booked the room with booking.com and it was 1/3 the price of what the lady had quoted me. There were lots of rooms available. So basically she must have lied when she said she only had a room at that really high price. So I went back to the front desk and showed the same lady my reservation and she never apologized but I got the room for 1/3 the price.

The restaurant Ángels good location.
The air conditioner did not work well and the little water pressure to bathe.
